A note from Mum

Awwwhhhh! Isn't he just too gorgeous? I'm so lucky to have such a beautiful child (and yes - he's such a good poser too... he will stop mid motion when he sees the camera :)

For his birthday he got a joke kit (fake dog poo, fake vomit, spoon with hole in it, trap chewing gum, gross fake teeth etc.) so lately he's been putting jokes everywhere! O no! I've got a "Cale the menace"... no... it's not that bad - we all pretend to be frightened or grossed out! he he

I was saying to Lance today that Cale is such a kind child... i.e. when he was creating his birthday invite list he said "Mum, I'd really like to invite C. because he never gets invited to any parties and doesn't have any friends, and I think he would like to be invited". Cale is so sweet - especially as he is the most popular kid in his class and the other children look up to him - so it's great that he isn't a bully and is so kind.

Cale even had a 15 yr old who goes to his school, come to his party (he makes friends with everyone!). I was a little surprised that he turned up to a 7 yr old party :) Especially 'cos he was so big compared to the other children, but he had fun and I was pleased that Cale gets on so well with older and younger children.

I went to parent night at Cale's school the other week and the Teacher raved on about Cale... I witnessed some of the other parent interviews and Cale's was definitely the best (in other words - the Teacher didn't say the same thing to all the parents) Cale's always been able to charm the teachers and be the favourite... Some stuff she said was:

  • Cale is a lovely child and is very good, he can get impatient but she just slows him down and he takes correction very well. He is very sensitive and doesn't need to be corrected harshly.
  • Cale is so clever and actually spends 3 days every week in the higher grade because he is smarter than the other children.
  • Cale doesn't even need help with reading because he just got it immediately (I was the same - I pretty much just immediately started reading).
  • He is very good at maths and grasps complicated concepts.
  • Cale has an amazing memory, where other children forget things - Cale never does. I've always know this as even when Cale was young he never lost anything because he always remembered where it was... he still remembers when he was a baby and will bring things up months later (we have to be careful what we say around him because he never forgets! :)
  • Cale got all A's with his grades.
  • Cale loves art and is always drawing... he has such a great imagination and makes the most amazing story books... he draws the best detailed people too. He doesn't like the craft so much - more likes drawing, painting etc. He is also a good writer and has quite nice writing for his age.
  • Cale is always happy so long as he is kept challenged... he loves learning and is one of the only children who remains focussed the whole time... he has stamina.
  • Cale is of course very good at sports too and is the fastest child at school.
  • Cale responds so well to positive comments and praise... she said you can see the little proud smile he gets on his face (I know it well).
There was nothing Cale could improve in and the Teacher said I've done a great job with Cale etc. It was so nice to know that it's not just motherly love... my son is really so special and just so great!
